The Transfer Cycle

This cycle has been interesting! And so, so, SO exciting, because I am preparing for my embryo transfer on June 5, 2026!

I had to travel a lot during this cycle - once for a work conference, and then for my little brother's graduation from the Navy nuclear engineering training program (so proud!)

So, that added a little bit of excitement to the process, especially since one of my medications needs to be refrigerated.

I got myself a medication cooler that I took on the planes, and then had to remember to put the meds in the hotel fridge as soon as I got to the given hotel. Before traveling, I called all three hotels and made sure they would all have refrigerators in the room. Two out of three said all of their rooms had refrigerators, but the one in Dallas for the conference said they will make sure I get a room with one, implying they don't all have one.

When I checked into the Fairmont in Dallas, the receptionist said "wow, you have a GREAT room." I didn't think much of it until I went to my room and discovered they had upgraded me to a SUITE because, apparently, only their suites have empty refrigerators! So that was fun!

I did well travelling with the meds for the most part, except once I got to South Carolina, the refrigerators didn't have a freezer compartment, so I just put the meds and the icepack for the cooler in the refrigerator. When it came time to fly back to Seattle, I put the icepack in the med cooler with the meds and went on my way. When I got home, I saw that the circle on my temperature range indicator card turned red, meaning it had gotten out of the ideal temperature range. I was a bit panicked as I needed to be able to take my meds again the next morning, and certainly didn't want to have to pay for more meds since they are generally thousands of dollars (eeeek!) I called the pharmacy after-hours number, though, and they said since it was just about 12 hours and it didn't freeze or get overwhelmingly hot, that all was fine. :)

Once I finished the Lupron, I moved to Progesterone which is an intramuscular injection and boy, does it HURT! It's definitely largely mental, though, because the needle is 1.5 inches long and it's really hard to psych yourself into injecting that into your butt cheek. The first time I did it, 3 days ago, was horrendous and extremely nerve-racking. (See my social media video about it.) But the second and third time haven't been as bad, especially since I remembered to warm the vial up first under my armpit, and not to stand on the leg that I'm injecting into (duh).

I had an ultrasound for my uterine lining a few days ago. They want it to be at least 7-8mm and mine was 10.5!!! I love my overachieving uterus.

So...... my embryo transfer will be on June 5, 2026!!!!! Which is in three days! It's really feeling real now. I'm so excited but also in disbelief. I think it won't really hit me until I see the positive pregnancy test. :)
