The Shopping

How do you shop for sperm?

Turns out, it’s actually quite fun. You're essentially just shopping through an online catalogue, designing your baby.
Choosing the bank
As you're browsing the donors of the different banks, you'll also need to decide on which bank to go with. For me, I went with California Cryobank because I liked the level of vetting they do for their donors, plus that's where I happened to find the cutest donor on the planet (keep reading).
Some of California Cryobank's initial criteria are:
Must be at least 5'8" or taller
Between 19-38 years old (fastest swimmers)
Currently attending or have graduated from college
Must be in good health
Those who meet these requirements may then be considered to move onto the next step which is the qualification process, the standards of which only 1% of applicants ultimately posses to get accepted into the donor program with extensive medical testing and genetic screening.
Choosing the donor
My qualifications were pretty simple in my opinion, but it actually took me a couple of months of looking before my donor showed up in the catalogue and it was love at first sight.
Non-brown eyes because I have brown eyes and I preferred a higher chance of a child with beautiful blue or green eyes (again, you're basically designing your baby. You don't have to deal with the man, so it only makes sense to be superficial. If my future baby does have brown eyes, I won't be disappointed at all; we're just playing with genetics and statistics here and there's not much else to base my decision off of.)
Not too white. I like the idea of continuing to diversify America and the world.
At least 5'10". If I have a boy, I'd like a better chance of him feeling confident in his size and stature, knowing how men and the world are.
Looks like he'd make cute babies
Need to like his bio, interview recording, etc.
Fun fact: When my child turns 18, they get to have the donor's full name, and last known address and phone number. :-)
