The Eggs

Call me Mother Goose because I have 15 eggs!!! I am so excited :-) I'm on Day 10 of the stimulant meds, doing injections every night. While the first day took me almost an hour to figure out how to mix and administer all the drugs correctly, I can now do it in about 15 minutes. I guess that basically means I'm a doctor now.

I was nervous after my "baseline" appointment where they look at my eggs and do labs right after finish the suppressive birth control regimen because I only had 8 follicles at that time. My clinic seems to be big on "under promise, overdeliver," because they didn't give me too much hope that I'd develop more follicles, and even told me there's a chance that some don't develop and I end up with less. Not that I need 8 children, but not all of the eggs will fertilize successfully into embryos, and then out of the given embryos, not all of them will be healthy. Plus, I'm an overachiever, so I'm thrilled with having 15 strong, large follicles. (Follicles meaning the egg sacs.)

I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow, Sunday, to measure my follicles again. They want a decent-sized cohort measuring around 18mm each and yesterday (Friday) they were measuring around 14-15mm. If a good number of them are at 18mm tomorrow, then I'd do the "trigger shot" that night, which triggers my body to finish maturing the eggs and loosen them from the follicle wall so they can be extracted during an egg retrieval. If I trigger on Sunday, then retrieval (AKA egg harvesting) would be Tuesday! Fingers crossed!!

It's also been interesting to see my lab results and witness how my body is responding so well to the stimulant injections...

(No wonder I've been a little weepy lately. All I want to do is snuggle up on the couch with my dogs and watch Lifetime movies.)
